El Guro Waterfall Walk
One walk we did whilst staying at Valle Gran Rey, and would recommend is an approximate 5 hour round trip to the local waterfall. This involves an approx. 2km walk up the main road (very few cars and pedestrian/cycling lane so perfectly safe) up to El Guro, and then up a steep flight of stairs through a hippy colony and then onto the deep sided ravine that contains the waterfall at its source. The trail takes you up through the trees, at times walking along the water course.
At times, the walk is more like an assault course, with clambering over rocks and boulders, ducking under branches, climbing up ladders, and hanging on to ropes, all part of the fun. If you are unsteady on your feet, get scared easily (me!) or wearing flip-flops though, I wouldn’t recommend this walk for you. I would imagine that its also not much fun if its raining, as there is a lot of wading through water at times.
