As an interruption to swimming we decided to cycle to Son Catlar, a place you are unlikely to have heard of but is is worth the trip. I have alway had an interest in antiquity especial the more mysterious prehistoric eras. Our route was in theory the quickest from Cuitadella, but we ran into trouble at point 2 on the satellite image. What looks like a through road on a map in Menorca, is it seems often blocked by a gate and a farm. We had to cycle almost all the way back to Cuitadella and then back down the road slightly to the east (marked with a 1 on the satellite image.
The bikes we hired were dreadful. Just before we reached Son Catlar both developed slow punctures, so we ended up with a very hot long walk back, and a partial refund.
Son Catlar itself is amazing and is unheard of and it seems rarely visited. It is 3500 years old it has massive defensive walls and would in its day have been a small city, it was apparently occupied for 1500 year up until Roman times. Here are some pictures, they are not mine I seem to have lost all of mine from this day out.
