Goat On The Walk To Cala San Vincente

Walking Peurto Pollenca To Cala San Vincente

Every time we visit Puerto Pollenca, some or all of us do the walk to Cala San Vincente, with the intension of getting the bus back. It is only about 3 miles, but is hot in the summer and absent anywhere to buy refreshment so take water, at least a litre each, and consider a hat, well consider wearing one that is.

Finding the start of the walk is a challenge. It is vaguely marked on the Google earth image but ask a passing local or your hotel. Once you are on the path it is easy to follow, and to ensure you are on the correct track you should pass a homestead with a pack of mad barking dogs, they drive me mad every time.

This is a walk for good shoes or boots, not flip-flops; it is rough going in parts. The first part of the walk is a climb, long and hot, but once at the top you are rewarded with a view in each direction along the valley. The path along the top is a dirt track and you have a choice to continue on it or go left into the bushes. It is easier to follow the track. You will hit a roundabout (an abandoned project) turn right and descend into Cala San Vicente on a road.

Once in Cala San Vincent go for a swim. The Snorkelling is fantastic in all of the bays. For lunch there are lots of great cafes all well priced and good, well the 3 or 4 we tried were.

We always time our visits badly, we finish our lunch and then realise the bus is not due for 90 minutes or so. What do we do? We walk back. There is another route back for half the route through trees and bushes along a tricky to find path, again ask a local. The best I can do here is say there are steps to the path to the left of the cafe near the bus stop.

There are plenty of goats along this path do not be alarmed if you hear a sudden rustling in the thicket.

Peurto Pollenca Snorkelling

Not a bad place for a spot of swimming and snorkelling, had a great time, big fish and these large clam shell things! Great fun.

Puig De Maria Monastery Walk

Now for a nice hot walk up a steep hill in the midday sun :)

Ses Illetes Snorkelling

Got the number 3 bus whilst the rest of the gang went shopping, I went swimming. It's 40 degrees, Swimming! This is a fabulous spot to Snorkel. Had to wander round an army check point to get to the best spot.

Palma

In Palma, the capital of Majorca a vibrant interesting and beautiful city with ports, beaches and great shopping apparently, but I want to go swimming.

Palma Snorkelling

Fantastic city, lots to see and do, OK swimming and snorkelling

Alcudia

Always a good spot to visit, an interesting old walled town, with good shops and restaurants. Having said that we just had a butty.

Alcudia Snorkelling

Bus to Alcudia, 20 minute walk to bays to the the North. Good snorkelling. Walked back to Puerto Pollenca. Cold Lager required.

Boquer Valley Snorkelling

Calm as it gets here in the Boquer today, perfect for a dip. Few jellies around and lots of fish, water is crystal clear. German lady got a leg sting, big screams.

Boquer Valley Walking

Longish hot walk along the Boquer valley today. The ridge to the left is amazing. Greeted by old goats at the end and into the water to cool off.

Formentor Snorkelling

We took a vastly overpriced boat to Formentor beach today, I'm still shaking at having to part with so much for so little. Still the snorkelling is good. Got the bus back!

Colonia Sant Jordi

Colonia Sant Jordi! This place feels more Spanish than most resorts in Majorca, NO CHIP shops. Great beaches, very relaxed.

Colonia Sant Jordi Snorkelling

Some great snorkelling here, but the best spots take a bit of finding. Swimming ia great all over, with lots of sandy beaches and quite shallow for in most places.
