Boquer Vally Snorkelling And Swimming

I love the walk along the Boquer valley and I love a cool down swim when I get the bay at the end. The Snorkelling is fantastic here, but it is often full of jellyfish.

Jellyfish do not bother me too much, I swim around them. They do however pack a sting when you hit them. I have sat in this bay many times and watched swimmers pop in the water for a quick swim only to run out with stings. So it is perhaps wise to ask someone if there are a many in the water. If you can get in, the underwater topography is beautiful and there is a lot of sea life around, the water is usually crystal clear.

The jellyfish in the pictures that I took on one visit are of the Pink Jelly fish, official advise is not to swim with them, because of potential reactions to the stings. On one visit 8 years ago, it was carpeted with the things and no one went in the water that day. As I understand it storms to the north of the Majorca occasionally drive blooms into the northern bays.

A final thought, if you are unsure and not that confident in the water or with jelly fish do not get in here, it is very remote and help is not easy to come by, there is also no telephone reception until you get out of the valley.

More From Majorca

Cala San Vincente

Lunch in a great Cafe in Cala San Vincente again, love it.

Cala San Vincente Snorkelling

We got a bit bored so wandered over the hill to Cala San Vincente for a swim instead. It is wonderful. Deep clear blue water.

Walking Peurto Pollenca To Cala San Vincente

We did it again got the timing all wrong and ended up walking there and back to Cala San Vincente. Still we had a good swim.

Peurto Pollenca

Back in Peurto Pollenca. I feel like I have come home when I get here, love this place. Now, swim first or food?

Peurto Pollenca Snorkelling

Not a bad place for a spot of swimming and snorkelling, had a great time, big fish and these large clam shell things! Great fun.

Puig De Maria Monastery Walk

Now for a nice hot walk up a steep hill in the midday sun :)

Ses Illetes Snorkelling

Got the number 3 bus whilst the rest of the gang went shopping, I went swimming. It's 40 degrees, Swimming! This is a fabulous spot to Snorkel. Had to wander round an army check point to get to the best spot.

Palma

In Palma, the capital of Majorca a vibrant interesting and beautiful city with ports, beaches and great shopping apparently, but I want to go swimming.

Palma Snorkelling

Fantastic city, lots to see and do, OK swimming and snorkelling

Alcudia

Always a good spot to visit, an interesting old walled town, with good shops and restaurants. Having said that we just had a butty.

Alcudia Snorkelling

Bus to Alcudia, 20 minute walk to bays to the the North. Good snorkelling. Walked back to Puerto Pollenca. Cold Lager required.

Boquer Valley Snorkelling

Calm as it gets here in the Boquer today, perfect for a dip. Few jellies around and lots of fish, water is crystal clear. German lady got a leg sting, big screams.

Boquer Valley Walking

Longish hot walk along the Boquer valley today. The ridge to the left is amazing. Greeted by old goats at the end and into the water to cool off.

Formentor Snorkelling

We took a vastly overpriced boat to Formentor beach today, I'm still shaking at having to part with so much for so little. Still the snorkelling is good. Got the bus back!

Colonia Sant Jordi

Colonia Sant Jordi! This place feels more Spanish than most resorts in Majorca, NO CHIP shops. Great beaches, very relaxed.

Colonia Sant Jordi Snorkelling

Some great snorkelling here, but the best spots take a bit of finding. Swimming ia great all over, with lots of sandy beaches and quite shallow for in most places.
